To all the Chicago Bears fans I thought that this would be a good place to get together and discuss all things Chicago Bears.   Yes I know there are plenty of threads, but here it I hope that this blog will be laid back, with a great give and take.

To start, I have been hearing rumors about Grossman getting interest in Vikingland and I notice that some of the columnists here at CBS  consider him the best free agent QB available?  What do you think????

Of all of the FA QB's I have seen he is the best. Can the Vikings afford to out bid the Bears? Good start to hopefully a nice thred!!

Evening BigDogBear1....

I have yet to hear the figures that are in play with Grossman.  I assume he is not looking for a short term incentative laden deal....I find it interesting that if the Vikings are looking at him, have they made a decision that Traveris Jackson may not be the answer?

Here is an interesting bit of new in the Chicago Sun Time today about Marty Booker and his interest in returning to the Bears.  I wonder if he  has some gas in the tank still and whether or not he may be a better option then Moose as the possession receiver in the Bears Offense.  Personally, I would not hate to see him back in a Bears Uniform.

Also the Sun Times indicated the the Bears are looking for Offensive Line Help especially in the Guard position and that Fred Miller may be back as well....

Good day to all the Bear Fans....

By the way, for any Bears Fans that are runners, the Soldier Field Ten Mile Run is coming up in June.  It is a lot of fun because the end of the race is the 50 yard line and as you come into Soldier Field you are on the Jumbotron.  If you want more info let me know....

Evening atycj, Great post by the way. I wouldn't mind seeing Marty Booker back in his real uniform either! What do you think the Bears are going to do on O-Line in FA? I can see them going after at least one of the two Colts linemen and I also see JA trying to sign Allen Faneca. I hope they REALLY try to resign Rex . I think with a good O-Line he might just be our franchise QB! I also think they need to pursue Michael Turner for RB. Do you forsee this happening?

Here's to a better season in 08 !!!

Evening BigDog.

I keep hearing that the target in Allen Faneca, but there seems to be concerns about his age and the size of the contract that Hutchinson signed last year.  Apparently, the thought is that this is now the benchmark for a guard.  That was an amazing contract that he signed last year, nearly tackle money, but his impact was certainly seen in the Vikings run game as we all saw at Soldier Field.  Personally, I think we need depth at guard and tackle, so I would like to see us sign at least one of the big names, and draft one as well.

I like Michael Turner as well, but if the money is too high, I would rather focus on the O Line because without a fixed up line, it will really not matter who is carrying the ball.  I have seen fellow posters talking about Fargas from the Raiders as a cheaper replacement, but a Turner signing would certainly electrify the fans.

Booker?  I would like to see him back and it appears that JA still has a soft spot for him.  I just don't know if he would be willing to give a "hometown" discount, since the Free Agent Wide Receiver class is pretty thin, but He still lives here in the off season, so a Guy can hope.

Question for the night - What do We do at safety?

Evening attycj,

I think Mike Brown will be good this season but as far as strong safety goes I haven't heard of any good ones in FA. Maybe Kevin Payne can step in and do a good job. The only problem I see with this is I do not know how good he plays the run.Maybe the Draft.

Evening BigDog.....

Interesting bit of news on ESPN last night...apparently Fargas has resigned with the Raiders.  Well that is one suggestion for competition for Benson is now out.....Turner is going to be that more expensive since the market is getting tighter.

I certainly hope Brown is phsically ok.  He is quite a hitter back there and an emotional leader as well.

The Free Agent Pool is getting interesting with Zach Thomas and Algie Crumplier available.  The Dolphins and the Falcons are CLEANING house.  Too bad the Bears really don't need another Tight End and a Middle Linebacker.  Wonder if the Pats are going to make a play for Thomas??

Evening attycj,

It looks like the Falcons are also going to part ways with Lawyer Milloy that would be a nice backup at SS in FA but he might be a little to expensive. The Pats will more than likely make a play for Thomas because they are really old on defense. I wish FA was already over so we would know exactly what to look for in the draft. I do believe that both Lance Briggs and Bernard Berrian are history. That could potentially direct our course in both FA and the draft. What do you think?

BigDog-

Well this is the first time that I have read that Lawyer Milloy may be available...that is interesting.  I agree that he would provide a vetern presence to the Safety Position.  My only concern is how much gas he still has in the tank.  I am a little gunshy because of Adam Archeluta and the fact that he did not work out at all for the Bears.

As for Briggs and BB, they are both represented by the Anti-Christ Agent Drew so they are both going to be quite expensive to keep.  Starting with Briggs, I have been on the Washington Redskins Boards.  Don't ask, I have some friends over there, and it appears that the Redskins may make a real play for him, but at the same time Snyder really wants to go after Chad Johnson, so money may be tight.

I am less concerned about Briggs, since I think that Williams will fit in quite nicely, and more concerned about BB.  If we tag em, the cap number will be about 8 million, and a long term deal will be quite high as well.  I would like to keep him, but the money may be too high and if it is then I would rather focus on the offensive line a get a stud road grater at Guard or Tackle.

Go Bears....

Well the offseason plans are coming to bear fruit for the beloved Chicago Bears today.  The Bears released Mohammad today and resigned DE Alex Brown to a two year deal.  Moose was due a 500k roster bonus and the Bears avoided paying it.  I wonder if they will attempt to bring him back at a lower deal, or if this to free up cap space to make a play for another receiver.  Moose's time here certainly had some high lights, but I guess not enough to warrant the roster bonus.  As the the parameters of the Brown deal, as of now Chicago news is not releasing the figures.
